Birth Story

Well as most of you knew i was having pretty high blood pressures the last few weeks, but never turned into PIH/pre-eclampsia. Always having my blood drawn and urine testing but never once did anything come back positive. So they just continued to increase my BP meds.....Well Thurs (9/3) came and looking back...it really all started that night before i went in for my NST. I could NOT sleep at all (not that i was getting much before) but I really just couldn't sleep. I felt like i was up to the bathroom every 15 min or so. and I felt extremely crappy....more then usual. Then the morning came and i even threw up....(sorry TMI) but I was nauseous and threw up quite a bit (but it was just one big incident). So then i proceed to get ready for my NST...I feel fine now....I get to the hospital and of course they are SUPER busy (prolly that dang full moon that was around that weekend)...I had to wait 3 hours before they even got me into a room to do the NST..i get there get all hooked up and of course the babies look great, as usual. they always did. and of course my BP is crazy high....and it won't come down, even with more meds that they have given me... So they order more labs to yet again check for pre-e. Then all of a sudden i notice that my contractions (that i had been having for weeks also) are becoming stronger. Not terrible, but definitely stronger (if i hadn't been in the hosp already i prolly would have gone in to be checked out). My doc comes in and we have a talk...(mind you this is the Thurs before a holiday weekend and my doc will be out of town)...She looks at everything that is going on, i tell her that i am definitely feeling more contractions, she looks at my tracings and says ya you are having quite a few at reg 5-7 min intervals (before they were pretty sporadic). So she tells me...I am gonna check you and 1) if ANY of the labs we sent down look funny or off we are taking the babies and/or 2) i check you right now and there is any cervical change at all (from where i had been dilated at 1, thick and high) then we are gonna take the babies. Well she checks me and the min she goes in, she says WOW she is pretty low AND you are dilated to 3 (so i was going into labor right then). So she said, you still want a c/s right, and I say yes and we are off. Well it hits all of a sudden I'm gonna have 2 little people in my life now (i start crying and have a small breakdown)...I call my hubby (he's at work) to tell him its time and he can tell by my voice (it was shaky and sounded like i was gonna cry) and he is on his way. He drove from Chino airport to Loma Linda hosp in 35 min at 4:15 in the afternoon (traffic time)..this was unbelievable! :-) But he promised me he was being safe :-). He gets there and we wait about 10 min and then they take me back to the OR....They give me my spinal (which the actual poking and everything was fine) it was everything that preceded after that was HORRIBLE! They give me the meds and lay me down and I have a HUGE panic/anxiety attack. i am freaking out, having hot flashes, sweating, feel like i can't breath, and feel like throwing up (though i never did) everyone in the OR is trying to calm me....but it isn't helping....It is completely strange to have everything go numb like that...and i never want to do that part again! i finally get calmed down and Alan gets to come in. he is by my side holding my hand....and they have started. It actually went pretty quickly and Alan did take a peek as the girls were coming out (he is very glad he did this bec originally he wasn't going to look). He said it wasn't bad and he is happy that he looked...as soon as the girls were out, he quickly sat back down. :-) Both girls did end up needing some help breathing at first...they were on a breathing machine for about 30 min and then slowly went to nasal cannula and then to room air. Both were admitted to the NICU (but were well taken care of by all my lovely girls who work there). Alyssa stayed not even 24 hours and Addison stayed almost 2 days. I had to stay 4 days and almost 5 bec of my damn BP. It was still high and even to today it is still little wacky so we have been adjusting meds accordingly. We were discharged though all together Monday night (9/7 at 10pm) and now we are at home....our happy little family! So in love. Its definitely hard work and little frustrating at times.....NO sleep but we are managing! but completely completely worth every moment! :-)
